Since acquiring Soima Cranes in 2021, Stafford has been strategically investing in new technology, upgraded production facilities, and product development. Soima officially became Stafford Tower Cranes (STC) in June 2024, marking a key milestone. This transition united Europe’s crane heritage with Stafford’s innovation and service excellence.
Soima, founded in 1977, became a dedicated tower crane manufacturer by 1980. It earned a strong reputation across Portugal, Spain, France, and Mediterranean markets. Today, Stafford Tower Cranes carries this heritage forward and drives new advancements in crane engineering and design with the end user in mind.
At Bauma, STC unveiled the STL.257 luffing jib tower crane. This 20-tonne model features a 60-metre jib and nearly 58-metre free-standing hook height. It delivers a tip capacity of 3.3 tonnes, upgradable to 4 tonnes in specific configurations. With a compact 7.5-metre rear slew radius and hoist speeds up to 250 m/min, the STL.257 sets a new benchmark for versatility and productivity.
For larger-scale projects, the STL.757 provides a 42-tonne capacity and 5.8-tonne tip load. It gives contractors a powerful solution for the heaviest lifts.
STC introduced a new operator’s cab with greater visibility, ergonomic comfort, and built-in safety features. Standard air conditioning, improved comfort, and integrated safety systems make it one of the most advanced cabs in the industry.
Our Smart System telematics power every new crane, continuously monitoring and recording usage, overloads, location, and technical performance. This allows fleet owners and operators to optimize efficiency, improve safety, and ensure long-term reliability.
A customer in the Bahamas recently received the first crane with this system — an STF 7022 — showcasing another milestone in our global reach.
All STC cranes are manufactured at our facility in Canas de Senhorim, Portugal, with cutting-edge design and R&D support from Milan, Italy. This international collaboration ensures that every Stafford Tower Crane combines European engineering excellence with Stafford’s global commitment to quality, service, and innovation
